Ricky Hendrick's No. 17 Chevrolet truck

Sharing a passion for auto racing with his father, Ricky Hendrick grew up around top racing talents at Hendrick Motorsports and longed to take to the wheel himself. Starting out with victories in the Legends Series and late-model stock car division at Concord Motorsports Park just outside Charlotte, N.C., the younger Hendrick graduated to the NASCAR Busch Series part-time in 1999 and then to the Camping World Truck Series with champion teammate Jack Sprague in 2001. Driving the No.17 GMAC Chevrolet Silverado truck, Hendrick scored an emotional first NASCAR win at the inaugural Kansas Speedway 250-mile truck series event on July 7, 2001. Beating Ted Musgrave by 2.841 seconds, he broke the record as youngest driver to ever win a truck race at only 21 years old.
