Harry Hyde

More than just the first crew chief for Hendrick Motorsports, Harry Hyde is credited with convincing young car dealer Rick Hendrick that a fledgling team could be successful at NASCAR’s most elite level. Hendrick founded All-Star Racing in 1984, and Hyde went on to achieve 11 wins, 22 top-five finishes and 32 top-10s with drivers Geoff Bodine and Tim Richmond. Land owned by Hyde is where the team -- today known as Hendrick Motorsports -- now sits.
