Chad Knaus

Chad Knaus began his tenure at Hendrick Motorsports as a tire changer and fabricator for Jeff Gordon’s No. 24 Chevrolet, helping the “Rainbow Warriors” achieve the 1995 and 1997 championships. In 2002, Knaus was named crew chief for the No. 48 Chevrolet with newcomer Jimmie Johnson, and the duo began a relationship that would make NASCAR history. The team won 18 Sprint Cup races in its first four years, twice finishing runner-up in championship points. In 2006, Knaus’ team won its first of a NASCAR record five consecutive titles. Among crew chiefs, he is second only to Dale Inman in total championships and is the only crew chief to win more than two straight.
