Ken Howes

Ken Howes joined Hendrick Motorsports in the mid-1980s to lead an IMSA Corvette GTP team that won sports car races at Road Atlanta and Miami Beach. But by 1992, team owner Rick Hendrick had brought Howes to NASCAR. That season, he was the crew chief for driver Ken Schrader and the No. 25 Chevrolet. Two years later, the duo finished fourth in the 1994 Cup championship standings. In 2001, Howes was the first Sprint Cup crew chief for future champion Jimmie Johnson during a part-time schedule prior to his rookie season. A native of South Africa with experience in Formula 1, Howes now applies his vast racing knowledge as Hendrick Motorsports’ vice president of competition.
